1. Texas A & M Heisman trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel is suspended for the first half of Saturday’s season opener against Rice

2. Ricky Nolasco throws eight shut out innings and Hanley Ramirez and Andre Ethier both hit home runs as the Dodgers blank the Cubs 4-0 Wednesday afternoon.

3.Robert Griffin III will start for the Redskins in the season opener against the Eagles Monday night September 9.

4. Eric Sondheimer features Windward offensive tackle Roy Hemsley (6-6, 260) in Wednesday’s edition of the LA Times.
