(Rowland Heights) – Rowland running back Avery Duffus left the game Friday night with a knee injury and never returned. His status is uncertain at this time.
Duffus, who rushed for 1474 yards as the feature back last year, will have an MRI this week to determine the extent of the injury. He was replaced by Jackie Zhang who racked up over 260 yards in the 33-28 win over Nogales.
“What I do know is that it’s a knee injury and we’ll know more this week,” said Rowland HC Ryan Jacobson. “His MRI is scheduled for later this week but it looks like we won’t have him for a spell. We hope it’s not more than three to four weeks. But Jackie did have a big day and it couldn’t happen to a better kid. He will be starting in Avery’s place.”
The Raiders are home against Wilson, at Covina District Field against Northview and home to face Arroyo over the next three weeks.
