(La Mirada) Rashaad Penny scored all six of Norwalk’s touchdowns leading the Lancers to a 42-35 win over La Mirada in their Suburban League heavyweight showdown Friday night at La Mirada.
Norwalk’s defense came ready two hit causing fumbles on the Matadores first two plays from scrimmage, recovering the second giving Penny a short field for his first score of the game.
Penny rushed the ball 12 times for 179-yards, three touchdowns including a 81-yarder to paydirt. Penny also leaped over La Mirada defenders for 66-yards and two scores, he wasn’t done there on defense he had an interception he took 80-yards for a touchdown and also caused a fumble.
*** Matadores running back Adam Carrasco carried the ball 35-times for 240-yards reaching the end zone three times, but he had five fumbles, four were lost. Carrasco’s final fumble came with 1:39 left to play and only nine yards away from tying the game.

*** Lancers DB Nick Fernandez had a forced fumble and fumble recovery
*** NorRock caused six turnovers: Four fumbles, an interception, and also had a turnover on downs.
*** Lancers sophomore DE Jesse Lotts (6’0″ 230lbs) caused trouble all night for the La Mirada offense batting down two passes at the line and putting pressure on the quarterback.
*** Matadores sophomore QB Noah Santillian went 6 of 13 for 186-yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
*** La Mirada TE Tyler Luatua had two receptions for 114-yards both times making it to the end zone.
*** Matthew Ortega and Jacob Carr both got snaps at quarterback for Norwalk going a combined 4 of 6 for 98-yards and a touchdown pass each.
*** Matadores Dallis Todd was held to just two catches for just 29-yards.
***Lancers (9-0 overall, 5-0 in Suburban League) look to stay perfect next week when they host Mayfair 5-4, 4-1 league).
***La Mirada (3-6, 3-2 league) goes to Artesia (6-3, 3-2 league) to battle for the Suburban’s final playoff spot.
