2.) On this date in 1986 the Challenger exploded 73 seconds after lift off killing all seven astronauts on board.

5.) Burbank linebacker Gary Clements turns 18 today.

6.) Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey is in his 15th season, but first Super Bowl. Bailey has 52 career interceptions and has been to 12 Pro Bowls. He’s been named All Pro seven times.

7.) “Didn’t realize that winning in double overtime was kicking the crap out of people. But ok?”—MVS commentor “Ok?”

9.) Former Los Altos standout Travis Brown, recently named head coach at Duarte, is the Falcon program’s fifth HC in the last ten years.

10.) On this date in 1959 the Green Bay Packers hired Vince Lombardi as head coach. Later that fall he leads the Packers to their first winning season since 1947 when the team goes 7-5. In 1958 they went 1-10-1.
