(San Dimas)- “This is only the first empire we’re going to take down!” Northview’s Marcel Perez said to his team after the Vikings 44-26 victory over the San Dimas Saints on Friday night.

Northview roared out of the gate, capitalizing on poor San Dimas play and the efforts of Alex Camacho who scored twice on runs of two and 11-yards and a 42-yard field goal from Enrique Jacobo.

Down 17-0, Saints HC Bill Zernickow came out of his cherry picker to get into the face of his team. It responded with 9:50 to play in the half when Manny Elizade went 35-yards for a touchdown.

Just as the Vikings wave seemed to crest a punt from Elijah Grijalva was said to have hit a San Dimas player and Northview had the ball at SD ten. Two plays later Camacho crashed in for this third touchdown and a 24-7 advantage with 4:15 to play in the half.

The second half was series of Saints pushes and Viking push backs.

Freshman quarterback Steven Comstock broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run to make it a 31-7 in favor of Northview with 10:42 to play in the third.

“He just keeps getting better and better,” said Northview HC Chris Williams on freshman quarterback Steven Comstock. “He’s got so much poise but we told him that by week six or seven he was going to have to win a game for us and tonight he was great. He has an opportunity to be special.”

San Dimas answered with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Avila to Jarell Sykes. An offside penalty on the two-point conversion pushed SD back on the 2-point attempt and the run failed.

Grijalva opened the fourth quarter with a 4-yard scoring run. The carry was his first of the night.

Sykes, less than a minute later, brought the Saints back into the discussion with a 70-yard touchdown run. The 2-point attempt failed and it was 37-19  Northview.

The Vikings Comstock, flashing the poise OC Williams was talking about, answered with a 37-yard third down completion through the middle of the field to Jacob Van der eb. Two plays later the pyres of Valhalla were lit for San Dimas as Comstock moved with a mass of humanity 5-yards and into the end zone.
