(Ontario) – La Mirada quarterback Nehuel Garcia threw two touchdown passes to lead the Matadores to a 28-0 shutout of the Tigers, Thursday night at Chaffey.
Garcia hit Xavier Hicks and John Ojeisekhoba in the first quarter.
The Matadores turned to the running game in the second quarter as Amel White broke through the Tigers defense and got to paydirt from 27 yards out.
La Mirada got an eight-yard touchdown run from Jacob Black to make it 28-0 midway through the third quarter.
Chaffey only had 100-yards of offense and its ground and pound attack could never get going.
Tigers quarterback went four of nine for 41-yards and two interceptions and leading rusher Daniel Salgado had six carries for 41-yards.
Garcia finished 15 of 20 for 210 yards and two touchdown passes. His favorite target Hicks had nine receptions for 149-yards and a score.
Matadors will take on St. Margaret’s next week at home while Chaffey faces Bonita.
