Nobles Down Olympians, 43-6

(Rowland Heights) – It was a busy night for Jeremiah Serrano and Nogales in a 43-6 drubbing of Bassett Friday Night.

Serrano rushed for 96 yards on 17 attempts with two touchdowns.

Bassett got its chance first and managed to get down into Nogales territory only for the drive to end with an interception on Yerevan Hernandez’ first pass attempt of the evening by Héctor Cardona of the Nobles.

The Nobles got the ball at their own 44-yd line and marched down into Olympian territory. They capped the drive with a tow-yard run touchdown run by Serrano, and converted for 2 points on a pass from Cesar García to Sr. Ivan Ordaz.

The Olympians next drive ended in the same fashion. They marched down the field into Noble territory, only to be stopped by a dropped snap at the 37 yard line that was recovered by Ordaz for Nogales.

Bassett’s only score came on its first drive in the second quarter as Dontrell Davis dashed in form three yards out. It was all Nobles after that.

At the half Adrian Rachal took the kickoff 80 yards for a Noble touchdown. Then Nogales got the ball back at the Olympian 35 yard line after the ball was dropped on the resulting kickoff that led to another Noble touchdown. This time with Garcia connecting with Boe Canty.

García finished the night going 3 for 7 for 72 yards and a touchdown while tacking on 9 on the ground. Ordaz finished with 59 yards on 9 attempts with a touchdown and a fumble recovery on defense.

For the Olympians, Davis finished the night with 73 yards on 16 attempts with a touchdown and 3 receptions for a net gain of 6 yards. Hernández went 8 for 16 with 2 interceptions and two fumbles lost. His favorite target on the night was Giovanni Álvarez who had 4 receptions for 37 yards.

Next up for the Olympians is a short drive down Puente Avenue to face the Baldwin Park Braves. The Nobles will be hosting Wilson.
