(El Monte) – Mt. View went on a 16-0 run to start the third quarter to blow open a tie game and went on to beat Marshall 68-61 Friday night in Mission Valley League action.
Tied at 26 at the half Jeryck Chavoya buried three three pointers to spark the run and Derek Barocio hit a couple of baskets as well. By the time the dust had settled it was 42-26 Vikings. Mt. View outscored Marshall 24-13 in the third quarter overall with Chavoya scoring 16 of the 24 in the quarter.
Marshall did get within six in the fourth quarter but was never able to get over the hump as the Vikings had too much for the victory.

The game was close throughout the first half. Mt. View got off to a slow start scoring just six points in the first quarter, all of them by Raymondo Garcia. The Eagles led 10-6 after one with Jackson Stadnicki and Alonzo Acosta each scoring four points.
The Vikings got untracked in the second quarter outscoring the Eagles 20-16 in the quarter. Garcia had six and Chavoya five as the teams went into the half tied at 26.
The Vikes then came out in the third quarter and blitzed the Eagles. Marshall outscored View 22-18 in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough.
For Mt. View Chavoya led all scorers with 28 including six bombs from beyond the arc. Garcia had a big night as well with 21 and Barocio chipped in 9. For Marshall Stadnicki led the way with 15, Bagdo Yetenekyan, Vazion Boone and Alonzo Acosta all had 12 apiece.
Mt. View finished the regular season 11-14 overall and 7-5 in the Mission Valley League which is good for third place. Marshall dropped to 15-9 and 8-4 but took second place in league.
