Matadors Demolish Panthers

Tijani “TJ” Daley scored twice for the Matadors

(San Gabriel) – San Gabriel made it look easy Thursday night at home with a 41-0 victory over Pasadena Polytechnic.

The Matadors started off pounding the ball but an incomplete pass on their first drive on fourth down turned the ball over on downs. That would be one of few mistakes for them.

The Panthers had a three and out their first drive getting negative yards.

San Gabriel on the next drive came out keeping the ball on the ground and big fullback Elijah Muniz took it in from seven yards out to make it 6-0 after a missed point after.

The Matadors defense went out and stuck Poly again and got them off the field.

Freshmen running back Adam Moscorro put his head down and took it in from a short two yards and make it 14-0 after a two-point conversion.

Jacob Muniz showed off his arm the next two drives connecting with Tijani “TJ” Daley and Ivan Can making it 27-0 before the half for San Gabriel.

The Matadors defense went back to work in the second half not allowing the Panthers past the 50-yard line the whole game.

Can got in the end zone for the second time this time on the ground from 11-yards out.

Daley took his second pass from Muniz to paydirt to cap off the scoring for San Gabriel making it 41-0.

Xavier Salido and Louie Navarro were all over the field for the Matadors on defense, which only gave up 55 yards of offense to Pasadena Polytechnic.

Muniz finished 11 of 18 for 152-yards and three passing touchdowns. Daley had three receptions for 52 yards and two scores, Can had six touches for 51 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Pasadena Polytechnic had two guys under center Nicolas Cardenas and Everson Mathis went a combined 8 for 14 for 26-yards.

San Gabriel will travel to Glendale and face the Nitros. Poly goes home and will host Campbell Hall.

Clean up the penalties, lots of motion calls, but good win for the Matadors.
