  1. Muir at Northview (Covina District Field) will kick off the High School football season on Thursday night August 17 at 7:00 p.m. 
  2. Cathedral running back Mateo Carrasco (Class of 2026) has transferred to Schurr. 
  3. Local teams Downey, Charter Oak and Ayala will participate in the Huntington Beach Tournament this Saturday July 22.
  4. USC will kick off the 2023 campaign at the Coliseum Saturday August 26 against San Jose State at 5:00 p.m. 
  5. Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw threw a bullpen session Tuesday as he takes the next step toward his return from shoulder inflammation. He isn’t expected to return until next month.
  6. In a meeting Monday morning Angels owner Arte Moreno promised superstar Shohei Ohtani that he will not be traded according to MLB insider William Fredrickson who reported it on Twitter.
