The SGV Bowl is set for this Saturday January 13 at Covina District Field. 310 Babii will perform at halftime. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Too bad head coaches did not announce rosters. OR did they communicate rosters with Tribune?

I was it there but totally support your sentiments. The local press likes and endorses these guys ( as is their right ) , so you’re fighting an uphill battle ….. Escarcega just featured Matt V on his podcast !!
People really should not have expected more . Last year was a disaster with lights going out in fourth quarter and game not finished , but at least it resembled football most of the night .
These guys are promoters and will continue to promote as long as people continue to pay

From T. Peterson: You’re getting your years and games confused. The lights went out at Sierra Vista two years ago at the Hall of Fame All-Star game. It’s a different game. Last year at the SGV Bowl, which was the first year of the game, it was played at Charter Oak High School and the game was played in its entirety. Lights never went out. It was a good game. Again the game you’re referring to was a different All-Star game, one that has been played for years. It will be scheduled again for May this year. If you’re going to rip the SGV Bowl feel free. That’s your prerogative. But at least get your facts straight.

Hey guys, how you doing? I’m reaching out to you guys because I need some support with what I’m trying to accomplish. Long story short, I went to the “SGV Bowl game” last night and what I saw going on was unacceptable. The halftime show had a rapper that was saying everything beyond acceptable with kids and the elders around. What’s worse, is that the players were celebrating and acting chaotic and making it crazy and unsafe like it was a rap concert. For these young men to act like that as a football player is a disgrace to what football is all about and what a young man is supposed to be. I know you guys honor and respect the game of Football like I do so I need you guys to reply to my email and send it to everybody you know for support. My goal is to make sure this never happens again and to teach them what football is supposed to be all about. I’ve already sent 3 emails about this and received a call from
Fred Robledo this morning. He seemed to be “understanding and concerned” but was still kind of downplaying it so that’s why I wanted to get some more support. If you can and are willing, please send me your email addresses if you would like to support me, if not, I understand. Also, feel free to call me if you would like to discuss. Either way, I’m going as high as I can on this one to prevent this from ever happening again!
From T. Peterson: You’ll need to talk to the coaches that put the game on. We simply reported on the game and wrote the game story. In your opinion it was unacceptable while in other people’s opinions it was great seeing some kids being able to play one last time. I’ve received several messages from people saying it was a great event. Anyway you can reach out to the coaches that put it together if you like.
Basically a concert with football players jumping into the stands with a terrible football game thrown in as a side dish, after a TD the entire team would run into the end zone and do some wierd celebration.

From T. Peterson: Ha Ha! Who told you that? The players have names and numbers and the rosters will be available at the game. I have not been sent the rosters so I didn’t post them but that’s as normal as a sunny day in So Cal. I hardly ever post rosters before All-Star games unless I’m sent them and specifically asked to post them. Not sure where you’re getting your information but it’s way off. Let the kids play in what for a lot of them is their final game. Calm down.
The tribune just announced that a kid from Amat will play on sat. seeking a d one spot, Im wondering if its the same kid DELETED.
Less than a week’s notice, no rosters, no ticket sales info….no good. Obviously, the enthusiasm for the event is gone, and now its promoters are going through the minimum motions to pretend it’s still an annual extravaganza.
From T. Peterson: There are rosters and ticket sales. Not sure if the enthusiasm for the game meets your criteria but it is the second year for the game. So that would make it an annual event. You know…like every year.
