  1. NFL Playoffs – Results: Saturday – Baltimore 34 Houston 10; San Francisco 24 Green Bay 21. Sunday – Detroit 31 Tampa Bay 23; Kansas City 27 Buffalo 24.
  2. The Las Vegas Raiders officially named Antonio Pierce head coach. 
  3. The Atlanta Falcons have interviewed former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick twice for their head coaching vacancy and have scheduled a second interview with Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh. 
  4. Sports Illustrated will undergo massive layoffs after a licensing deal fell through. It could spell the end of the magazine that was first published in August 1954. 
  5. San Jose State is targeting former Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo as its new head football coach. 
  6. The Houston Astros signed reliever Josh Hader to a five-year, $95 million contract Friday. 
  7. The San Francisco Giants have brought back Dusty Baker as a special advisor. 
  8. The Dallas Cowboys are bringing back head coach Mike McCarthy but are not signing him to an extension. 
  9. Former Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin is transferring to Ohio State. 
  10. On this day in 1984 the Los Angeles Raiders beat the Washington Redskins 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII at Tampa Stadium in Florida. Raiders running back Marcus Allen was named MVP.
