Cayer Out as Head Coach at Ganesha

By Tim Peterson

(Pomona) – Don Cayer has been let go as the head football coach at Ganesha after 11 years he confirmed Friday.

Cayer, who will remain on as Athletic Director for now, was the second most winningest coach in school history. Cayer suffered a near fatal heart attack in October following a game against La Puente, but was told that the reason for his dismissal as head coach was not health related. However he was advised that they wanted to go in a different direction.

“I was specifically told this wasn’t about health”, Cayer said. “I was told I’m continuing as AD. Supposedly for next season.”

The Giants went 7-3 last year, 1-2 in the Miramonte League and missed the playoffs.

Good guy, but it’s about winning games and getting to the playoffs. If they go the route their baseball team did cool. But it’s not going to be like baseball they’ll get placed accordingly. I say if they go that route maybe Zeke Prado the next HC.
