(Huntington Beach) – Mission Viejo beat St. John Bosco 26-25 in the Final of the Gold Bracket to win the championship Saturday at the Battle of the Beach 7 on 7 passing tournament at Edison High School in Huntington Beach.
St. John Bosco beat Edison 27-21 in the Semi-Finals while Mission Viejo beat Santa Margarita.
Charter Oak, who was the only team representing the San Gabriel Valley at the tournament, put on a great performance. The Chargers beat Capo Valley 20-19 in the final to win the Siver Bracket. Charter Oak finished pool play 2-2 and then went on to defeat St. Bonaventure and Rancho Cucamonga on the way to the Silver Championship and the victory over Capo Valley.
The Chargers were led by quarterback Corin Berry, who recently committed to Boston College along with receiver Legend Lyons who committed to Minnesota. Charter Oak also has two other players – receiver Marquis Bradley (UC Davis) and OLB/ Edge LaVar Arrington (Penn State) who have recently committed.
The Chargers open the 2024 campaign Friday night August 23 at home against Canyon.
