(Baldwin Park) – South Hills racked up 372 yards on the ground and ran over Baldwin Park 52-29 Friday night on the Braves home field. The Huskies had two players with over 100 yards rushing and all seven of their touchdowns were on the ground.
Baldwin Park cut the South Hills lead to 31-21 when Elvis Diaz caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Garcia in the third quarter but the Huskies blitzed the Braves in the fourth outscoring them 21-8 to close them out.
On the first play of the fourth quarter Tyler Arguinzoni scored on a 14-yard run right up the gut to make it 38-21. On the Huskies next possession Danny Resendez broke loose for a 26-yard touchdown jaunt and with 9:58 left it was 45-21 South Hills.

Baldwin Park answered with a four-yard touchdown run by Mark Carbajal to make it 45-29 with just under five minutes remaining but South Hills had one more punch to throw. Sebastian Morinaga busted off a 27-yard touchdown run with 2:24 left and the Huskies surpassed the 50 plateau.
Arguinzani had three touchdowns on the night for South Hills and Resendez had two. Resendez also had a 66-yard kickoff return to open the game which set up a 28-yard field goal by Brianna Castruita to make it 3-0.
The two backs had 250 yards rushing combined. Arguinzani had 148 yards and Resendez 102.
Carbajal scored on a 65-yard run for BP in the first quarter and Diaz picked up a fumble and returned it 28 yards for a score and the Braves led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter. Baldwin Park also had a safety when the South Hills punter fumbled a snap in the end zone.
In the second quarter Resendez scored on a 15-yard run and Arguinzani found paydirt twice – on runs of 7 and 5 yards for a 31-15 halftime lead.
It was 31-21 when the Huskies broke it open. Landen Hansen also had 37 yards rushing and quarterback Fabian Marez had a one-yard TD run in the first quarter for South Hills.
For Baldwin Park Mark Carbajal rushed for 146 yards and Garcia threw for 181 yards and ran for 82 but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the Huskies devastating running attack.
For the 2024 campaign South Hills is off and running.
