(San Dimas) – Mark Holman has resigned as the head football coach at San Dimas after 11 years he confirmed Friday.
The Saints went 7-6 last season and advanced to the CIF Division 9 Semi-Finals before falling to Valley Christian. In the first round the Saints rallied from a 22-0 deficit to beat Rowland 24-22. They beat Poly 28-8 in the second round before the loss to Valley Christian.
San Dimas qualified for the playoffs every year under Holman. In 2015, Holman’s first season, the Saints went 10-4 overall and played Sierra Canyon in the Mid Valley Division championship game but they came up short 20-0.
San Dimas won or tied for the Valle Vista League title three times during Holman’s tenure – in 2017, 2019 and 2023. In 2019 San Dimas went 11-2 overall, including 5-0 in the Valle Vista League. The Saints only losses that year were to Bonita and North in the CIF Semi-Finals.
Holman who took over for Bill Zernickow prior to the 2025 campaign, complied an overall record of 87-40, including 11-11 in the post season.
San Dimas now begins the search for a new head coach.
Holman said personal and family reasons led to his decision.

People that don’t understand this is a thankless job have never done this job. If you know, you know. Congrats on a great career coach, enjoy the next journey.
Coach we appreciated all the efforts you made! You never complained about who you faced during the playoffs. You stayed committed to running the ball at all times. Hopefully, you use the time to recharge and figure out your next steps . God bless!
21 years at one place is to be commended. 11 years as HC and 10 years as Zernickow’s top assistant. Hope the SD community appreciates that kind of effort.
@Thankless Job
Sounds good but it isn’t. Just a bad decision it was gonna happen since the beginning of the year.
This is one resignation where I totally believe the man is in dire need of a break and more family time. Ten years at the helm of any H.S. football program is enough to wear-out anyone, particularly for the ridiculous compensation involved. I wish Mark the absolute best in the future.
