Vikings Enjoy the View, 13-0

(El Monte) – Mountain View racked up 11 runs in the first two innings and rolled to a 13-0 rout of El Monte Tuesday on the Vikings home field. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Ryan Molinar had a run scoring single in the first inning and Eder Salas doubled in a run as the Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Luke Davila, Molinar and Adam Alcantar all scored in the inning.

The Vikes busted it wide open in the second. Julian Palma-Saracho, Alex Moreno, Alcantar and Jorge Bastidas all had hits in the inning. Mt. View was also helped by four El Monte errors and a walk. The Vikings batted around as Michael Aguirre, who led off the inning, scored twice after walking and reaching on an error. By the time the third out was mercifully recorded eight runs had crossed the plate and Mt. View was up 11-0.

The Vikings added two more in the third as Salas drove in Davila who had walked and Molinar reached on an error and worked his way around to score on a ground ball.

Mt. View used two pitchers to secure the shutout. Davila started and went three innings and Moreno went the last two.

El Monte had just six hits overall as Javier Rodriguez had a single and a double. Rodriguez hit an apparent run-scoring double in the fifth inning but Jaime Hernandez, who had reached base on an error, was thrown out at the plate.

Javier Casas started for El Monte and was relieved after two innings by Selvin Betancourth.

With the victory Mt. View improved to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the Mission Valley League. El Monte fell to 1-11 and 0-4.
