  1. Kylian Mbappe scored two goals to lead France to a 3-0 win over Sweden Tuesday and into the round of 16 at the World Cup. By scoring twice Mbappe broke the record for most goals in World Cup knockout matches and moved within one goal of Lionel Messi’s overall tournament mark of 19.
  2. Other World Cup Results – Tuesday: Norway 2 Ivory Coast 1; Mexico 2 Ecuador 0.
  3. Ronald Koeman stepped down as the head coach of Netherlands following the loss to Morocco in the round of 32 Monday.
  4. LeBron James advised the Lakers Tuesday that he won’t be returning to the team next season but he will return to the NBA to play his 24th campaign.

  6. The Clippers agreed Tuesday to trade forward Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-round pick swap and two second-round picks.
  7. The Portland Trail Blazers signed center Robert Williams III to a three-year, $44 million extension.
  8. The Golden State Warriors plan to pursue Lebron James in free agency and a trade with Washington for Anthony Davis but the Wizards have stated they have no interest in trading Davis and are not listening to offers.
  9. In Norway’s win over Ivory Coast Erling Haaland scored his fifth goal in three World Cup games leaving him one behind Lionel Messi in the race for the tournament Golden Boot.
  10. After a 9-3 win over the A’s Tuesday night the Dodgers have extended their lead in the NL West to 12 games over the second place San Diego Padres.
