1. Don Nelson, the second winningest coach in NBA history, and Hall of Famer, passed away at the age of 86 it was announced Sunday. Nelson spent 31 years as a head coach in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors (twice), New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks. As a player Nelson spent 11 years with the Boston Celtics and won five NBA titles. Nelson also spent two years with the Lakers before joining the Celtics for the 1965-’66 season. The Celtics retired his number 19 jersey in 1978.
2. The Dodgers fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 Sunday and have lost eight of their last nine. The Dodgers lead the second-place Diamondbacks by 7.5 games in the NL West.
3. Detroit Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has retired. Bridgewater retired after the 2023 season only to return to the Lions the next year, but head coach Dan Campbell thinks this retirement will stick.
4. The Las Vegas Raiders held quarterback Kirk Cousins and defensive end Maxx Crosby out of practice Saturday after the two were involved in a scuffle in practice Friday.
5. Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson set an MLB record for his position by playing his 111th consecutive errorless game.
6. The Lions signed veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs to a one-year, $1.425 million contract to back up Jared Goff.
7. Two former NBA players, Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White, declared themselves eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft, saying they identify as women.
8. Former heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe turns 60 today.
9. The Milwaukee Brewers, at 74-44, have the best record in baseball.
10. The Angels, at 45-73, have the worst record in baseball but are still just 14.5 games behind the Houston Astros (60-59) in the AL West.

I agree with all of your sentiments and you make valid points, especially the insensitive arguments and lack of empathy that are made and shown by transphobic people.
With that being said, IMO the rights of 1 marginalized group should not take the rights of equity away from another marginalized groups. Young girls and women have been treated unfairly for decades which made Title IX a very important function to provide equity.
Girls want to be able to compete. There’s a reason why girl’s wrestling and girls was created as an equitable way for female athletes to fairly compete. Because they should not have to compete against males. And whether or not a male identifies as a woman does not change this fact regardless of hormones or other scientific means that are used to do such. It cannot be debated that a biological male possesses greater levels of strength, speed, and agility than those born female.
High school girls sports is a relatively new concept. The sports have gained much more traction in the last 4 decades which is terrific. Trans people have rights. Trans people should be respected and treated well. But it should not be at the safety and competitive desires of girls and young women who have been trampled on for centuries.
I do not think one has to provide medical documentation or display their genetalia to prove they are trans. All they have to do is say it.

Ex-NBA player is being generous. The dude washed out in the G-League. And befire you hold this guy up as a hero make note of a recent legal case in which he was found to have engaged in abusive behavior toward his spouse and children. The decision bars him seeing his family for 50 years. Real family values there.
Also, the lack of understanding of facts related to transgenderism (and the negative potential of such ignorance) is frightening. I challenge anybody here, especially those that make the old and unimaginative jokes about identifying as a tree or as a woman because you put on a wig is ignorant and hateful. Transitioning is a years’ long process that involves significant dedication and counseling, not to mention the bravery it takes to risk ostracization from family and friends. I challenge all making these kinds of jokes to take a moment and sit down listen to a trans person about what it actually means to undertake this process.
Also: enough with the unhealthy fixation on the WNBA. Even Fox News “reporters” have asked to stop being forced to talk about it. Fabricated outrage is boring, dangerous, and just weird. Worry about your own lives and live and let live.
Right now the Angels need to win 18 more games before the season ends to keep that they are the only franchise not to lose 100 games intact.
I’ve heard that if these dudes are welcomed into the WNBA, the league could evolve into the junior NBA, where the regular NBA castoffs go to compete. Call it the Woke NBA or the Weak NBA.
