San Francisco 49ers 20 Chargers 3 – HALF

(Inglewood) – Justin Herbert started for the Chargers and they went three and out. Trey Lance relieved Herbert on the second series. Brock Purdy started for San Francisco and Mac Jones came on in the second series to take over. Neither team scored in the first quarter.

Eddy Pinero kicked a 48-yard field on the first play of the second quarter to put San Francisco up 3-0.

A 37-yard run by Lance down to the San Francisco five-yard line set up the Chargers first score. The Chargers drive stalled there but Cameron Dicker kicked a 21-yard field goal to tie it at three with 7:11 left in the second quarter.

The 49ers responded with a four-play,65-yard drive, Sincere McCormick finished it with a 7-yard touchdown run to out San Francisco back up 10-3.

After forcing the Chargers to punt Jacob Cowing returned a punt 83-yards for a touchdown to put the 49ers up 17-3 with 3:01 left in the second quarter. Cowing broke to the outside and outran the Chargers coverage for the score.

After the Chargers offense failed to move the ball again the 49ers scored one more time in the second quarter. Pinero booted a 45-yad field goal as time ran out make it 20-3 at the half.
