(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)
1. The Cleveland Browns are waiving tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who has an agreement in place to play for LSU for the 2026 season if he clears waivers. Wright is believed to be the first player to have an agreement to return to play in college after signing with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent.
2. The Rams shutout the New Orleans Saints 34-0 Saturday in the second preseason game. Stetson Bennett completed 19 of 81 for 181 yards and Ty Simpson was 8 of 12 for 73 yards.
3. “The whole world knows it has nothing to do about the performance. It’s a little bit [more] personal than that. So I think it’s a disrespectful thing. So yeah, I mean, I’m going to keep whatever I feel with me and my family internally on how I feel about that. And yeah, just move on.” – Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson after being booed Saturday in a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Watson was 5 for 12 for 35 yards and an interception.
4. The Chargers officially placed center Tyler Biadasz on season ending injured reserve after suffering damage to his ACL and his left knee last week in a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers.
5. The Dodgers have won six straight after a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday.
6. Klay Thompson plans to sign a two-year, $13 million deal with the Miami Heat after clearing waivers following his contract buyout from the Dallas Mavericks.
7. Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was helped off the field practice Sunday after suffering an apparent right knee injury.
8. Alabama named sophomore Keelon Russell as its starting quarterback after he beat out senior Austin Mack for the job. The Crimson Tide opens the season against East Carolina on September 5.
9. Max Johnson, who was named the starting quarterback at Georgia Southern, will be entering his seventh season of college football.
10. Browns head coach Todd Monken said that he plans to announce his Week 1 starting quarterback on Monday (August 24).
Maranatha QB listed as incomplete. Muir QB listed as incomplete. Why not just call it a day and both kids go back to where they were all summer?
With all the chatter about Klay Thompson not ‘fitting’ in Dallas, nobody has bothered to note that this guy is 36 years old. The thing about sports is that it doesn’t care if you feel capable at an advanced age, it still demands the speed and quickness of a younger body. Riley is in his eighties now, so he’s probably thinking 36 is like being a newborn. In this case, that judgment is not only wrong, but downright expensive.
In ten years college football will pay more than the NFL and players will sign long term contracts. If you watched the Ram game you saw the cameras focused on the announcer booth more than the field. Plus I had to turn off the volune because of all the high pitched giggling coming from the announcers. Is Northview underrated or what? What happened to Glendora football? Sierra Vista is my Favorite D14 team. Muir will win a title in D9
