5. Tampa Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated right thumb in his throwing arm in Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday. He will get an MRI Monday to determine the status. The Buccaneers are 0-3 on the season.
6. The Chargers lost to the Buffalo Bills 24-16 Sunday to fall to 0-3.
7. USC suspended linebacker Desman Stephens II one game for his conduct following a late hit on Dante Moore in the Trojans 41-27 loss to Oregon Saturday.
8. The Seattle Mariners fired manager Dan Wilson Sunday. Wilson led the Mariners to the AL Championship Series last year but Seattle finished 76-86, third in the AL West, this year.
9. The Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-1 in 10 innings Sunday to finish the season 100-62 on the season. The Dodgers won the NL West by nine games.
10. MLB Playoffs: AL: Wild Card – Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros; Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees. Chicago – Houston winner vs. Cleveland Guardians. Boston – New York winner vs. Tampa Bay Rays.

They should also suspend Riley for the rest of the season, replacing him with just about anybody. The buyout on his contract is too high, so go the St Paul route and bring in an untried kid such as Jerry Neuheisel to energize the roster. If that succeeds, force Riley to be the equipment manager for the rest of his contract. That might get him gone voluntarily.
