Lopez Joins Buena Park Staff

By Tim Peterson (Buena Park) – Long time area assistant coach Matt Lopez has joined the staff at Buena Park as wide receivers coach. Lopez has previously had stints at San Gabriel, Temple City and most recently San Dimas.

Mid-Valley Division Offensive Coordinator of the Year 2014: Pomona’s Leonard Hudson

637 points, 90 touchdowns, and close to 400 yards per game. The Pomona offensive numbers in 2014 stand out like a neon sign. The Red Devils scored over 50 points in seven different games this season including over 70 on two occasions.

Payton Back Home; Enrolls at Azusa Pacific

By Tim Peterson (Glendora) – Jake Payton, who played his high school football at San Dimas before transferring to Bonita his senior season, has enrolled at Azusa Pacific and plans to suit up for the Cougars this fall.

Zernickow Signs off at San Dimas

By Tim Peterson (San Dimas) – Bill Zernickow, who has been the head coach at San Dimas for the last ten years, has stepped down. He advised his players of his decision Monday.

Bearcats Have an Angel on their Side, 23-14

By Tim Peterson (Glendora) – Angel Verdugo ran for three touchdowns and the Bonita defense forced three turnovers as the Bearcats beat San Dimas 23-14 Thursday night in the annual battle for the Smudgepot at Citrus College.

The Peterson Principle: 9/22/14

Monrovia didn’t lose the game Friday night. St. Francis won it. The Golden Knights took it. When big plays needed to be made, it was St. Francis that made them. The Golden Knights were bigger, deeper, stronger and ultimately better.
