Athletics Notes: 9/16/25
By Tim Byrnes May 18th was the last time the A’s weren’t occupying the basement of the American League West. The team mixed a little old school small ball, and patience at the plate, with 10 home runs to dominate and sweep the Cincinnati Reds.

Mid Valley High School Football Top 12
Not many changes in the Top 5. Three of the five teams lost but all to superior opponents. Northview jumped up two spots with an impressive road win over La Serna and Monrovia joined the party with its fourth consecutive win.

Bruins Still Can’t find Their Way, Lose 35-10
By Rich Whittington (Pasadena) – The UCLA Bruins could not earn their first victory of the 2025 football season, losing to the visiting New Mexico Lobos 35-10 Friday evening in front of an announced attendance of 31,163 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Alhambra Offense Overpowers Azusa, 55-19
By Ron Vrooman (Glendora) – Tailback Halen Tsang scored four touchdowns and quarterback Bryan Leonard threw two TD passes to lead Alhambra to a 55-19 victory over the Azusa Aztecs on Friday night at Citrus College.
