4—Legendary Miami Dolphins defensive tackle and anchor of Don Shula’s “No-Name Defense”, Manny Fernandez has passed away at the age of 79.
5—UCLA’s Donovan Dent, saying he no longer had the drive to continue at a high level, announced his retirement from basketball this past weekend. Dent spent three season at New Mexico before transferring to UCLA. He is estimated to have made over $3-million in NIL money during his collegiate career.
6—The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Montreal Canadians, 3-2 in OT, last night to go up 2-1 in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals. The Canes also won Game Two in OT by a score of 3-2.
7—Legendary sports announcer Brent Musberger turns 87 today.
8—On this day in 1925 Ty Cobb becomes the first player to record 1,000 extra-base hits.
