(Pasadena)– Myles Carr threw for two and ran for another as the Apaches avenged last season’s loss to Pasadena, 44-7
After stopping a Pasadena drive at its own six, Arcadia blew the game open in the second half when Taylor Lagace helped spearhead an Apache lightning storm with a 98-yard kick return to paydirt and a 13 yard strike via delivery from quarterback Carr.
The Jon Dimalante coached and fundamentally sound Arcadians, needing only 197 yards of total offense, found the end zone on seven of their first nine series while receiving solid support from their special teams unit with two blocked punts (one went for a safety).
The first 100 seconds of the opening stanza was anything but spectacular for either team as Arcadia was flagged twice for holding nullifying runs of 22 and 13 by Rodney Arnett. Pasadena jumped offside and committed a personal foul. But it didn’t take long for the Apaches to get on board as Carr found tight end John Wong along the right corner for a 7-yard floater just 2:11 into the game.
Carr finished 8-of-10 for 96-yards and two touchdown with no interceptions.
One Apache to keep eye on is sophomore tailback Sheldon McKinley, 9 runs 72 yards and one touchdown,exploded for surges of 25 and 30-yards on the Arcadia’s third series of second half.
Pasadena quarterback Brandon Cox, despite being sacked six times, threw for 193 yards and a shovel score to running back Andreece Brown while going 20-of-35 attempts. The Bulldogs receiving corps were led by Marcus Green (6 catches, 97 yards) and Saucedo (6 – 51). Recent Bishop Amat transfer Austin Lacy, on his second tour of duty with PHS, added five tackles.
