(El Monte)- Mountain View’s Jose “Nacho” Zamora ran for 139-yards and two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough as Bell-Jeff beat the Vikings in overtime at Viking Stadium Friday night 20-14.
Guards running back Joshua Martinez put the first points of the game on the board when he scored on a 2-yard run early in the second quarter to make it 7-0.
Martinez again would find the end zone midway through the third quarter, pounding it in from 2-yards to make it 14-0.
After a speech from Coach Wilson, the Vikings finally got on the board when Zamora raced 15-yards to paydirt to make it 14-7.
The Mountain View defense forced a three and out and Ricky Ojeda block the punt to give the Vikes the ball in the redzone. But the Vikings coughed it up, with one of their seven fumbles of the game.
Mountain View tied it up at 5:21 in the fourth quarter when Zamora again ran through the Guards defense.
With six seconds on the clock the Vikings had a chance to win it with a 35-yard field goal, but a bad snap cost the Vikes.
Bell Jeff had the ball first in OT and scored on a four yard touchdown run from #35 to make it 20-14 after Mountain View blocked the extra point.
Zamora took them down to the 9-yard line on a 16 yard run, View had its chances but fumbled and tripped opportunity away. Following two incompletions by Josh Martinez, the come back was cut short.
Chris Gonzales had an interception and two pass deflections, while Manny Salcedo added three sacks for the Vikings.
The Guards Martinez finished with 117-yards and two scores. Mitch Kellog went 5 of 10 for 50-yards from under center.
Next week doesn’t get any easier for Mountain View as they stay home and host MVL champion Arroyo. Bell Jeff goes to Salesian.
