1.) Patrick Kane’s hat trick in game five for the Blackhawks. Chicago will move on to play the Boston Bruins for Lord Stanley’s Cup.
2.) Goalie Tuukka Rask conceded only two goals in the Bruins sweep of favorites Pittsburg Penguins
3.) Los Angeles Dodger’s Adrian Gonzalez is currently 7th in the NL in RBI and 10th in batting average for the last place Dodgers.
4.) On this day in 1944 Joe Nuxhall became the youngest pitcher in major league history at the age of 15. He retired one batter before giving up five runs and not being able to get out of the inning. He finished high school and then went on to be a successful pitcher with a 14-year career that began in 1952.
5.) On this day in 1989 Wayne Gretzky won his 9th NHL MVP award. Gretzky had won eight straight MVP’s before Mario Lemieux snapped his streak in the ’87-’88 season.
6.) On this day in 2007 Lewis Hamilton became the first black formula-1 to win a race. He took the checkered flag at the Canadian Grand Prix.
7.) The Miami Heat in game two.
8.) Tiger Woods regained his throne on the Forbes list of highest-paid athletes. He had been at the top for 11 years before dropping to third in 2012.
9.) Perth Metro Central will be the first team to ever represent Australia in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The tournament starts August 15th.
10.) Happy Birthday to Tara Lipinsky and Dan Fouts.
