(Downey)- After two fumbles, an interception, and a turnover on downs the Downey Vikings over came a terrible first half to dominate the Mayfair Monsoons in the second for a 38-0 victory on Friday night at Allen Layne Stadium.
The Monsoons played the entire game without starting quarterback Isaiah Jackson, while the Vikings played only the first quarter without standout running back Justin Huff. In the end Downey quarterback Jorge Reyna was the standout accounting for three touchdowns, two by air and one on the ground.
***Downey quarterback Jorge Reyna threw for only 77 yards, but rushed for 94 on seven carries. He was 6 of 18 passing but had four passes dropped in the first half.
***Mayfair did not have a printed roster for the game or posted on MaxPreps.
***Vikings running back Justin Huff gained 57 yards on 13 carries. He fumbled twice in the first half and had a touchdown called back after an unsportsmanlike penalty was thrown on him. He scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

***Mayfair had 13 offensive possessions: They ended with 5 punts (1-blocked)/5 fumbles/a kneel down at the end of the first half/the last play of the game/and missed field goal that hit the left upright in the first half.
***Monsoon quarterback Isaiah Jackson did not play. Unofficial reports say that he is waiting for a transcript from summer to arrive and should be on the field soon.
***Downey cornerback Jason Thomas returned a fumble 36-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
***Viking receivers Tristan Esparza (20-yards) and Eduardo Preciado (11-yards) both caught touchdown passes.
***Downey plays at Vista Murrieta next Friday. Mayfair hosts Murrieta next week.
