“I’ve never seen anyone have a game like Kevin Hello had tonight.”—CV HC Paul Schilling on #11 Kevin Hello.
(Glendale)- Crescenta Valley’s Kevin Hello scored two touchdowns, blocked a punt, registered a sack, knocked down a pair of passes, and served as the feature back…all in the second half of the Falcons marathon 56-53 victory over San Marino Thursday night at Moyse Stadium in Glendale.
“Guys, guys,” CV HC Paul Schilling told his team in north end zone after the game. “I’ve never seen anyone have a game like Kevin Hello had tonight.”
In a game that featured more heroes than the Justice League it was late in the third quarter that Hello donned the “S” on his chest tied on a cape. After trailing 31-28 at the break the Falcons retook lead at the 7:56 mark of the third when Brian Gadsby connected with Ben Rees for a 5-yard touchdown pass.
While points seemed to be coming easy, defensive stops were at a premium. The Titans couldn’t get a handle on Gadsby, and the same could be said about the Falcons defense in dealing with San Marino quarterback Andrew Ferraco early on.
Starting at the Titan 27 with 4:48 to play in the third quarter, Ferraco began to march his team for what would be the go ahead score. After advancing to the Falcons 27 on a 1 and 10 Ferraco attempted to pitch out to Kenny McFarland but Hello read the play and shot into the San Marino backfield to get a hand on the ball before recovering it to stop the drive.
The next Titan possession was a three and out, but on fourth down Hello came off the edge to block Garrett Hill’s punt and then recover it in the end zone to give his team a 42-31 lead.
Later Hello suffocated another San Marino rally by scoring on a 36-yard run with 4:05 to play.
“The only thing he did wrong on that was score to fast,” said Schilling.

***The ensuing kick-off was short. The Titans Spitzer fielded it at the 24 and weaved his way through the special teams coverage 76-yards for a touchdown…but it was called back when the white hate determined that Spitzer had signaled for a fair catch.
***San Marino started at the 24 with 6:40 to play and managed a first down before getting stalled at its own 34. Facing a third and 13 Glazier was blindsided by Hello and fumbled the ball. Titan running back Kenny McFarland recovered but SM was till forced to punt.
