The Ten

(“The Ten” is not a top ten, but ten items worth being included in The TEN)

1. Indiana’s Paul George purchases every ticket for Fresno State’s home opener on November 16 to give away for free.

2. Shane Victorino drives in four runs and John Lackey allows one run in six and two-thirds innings as the Red Sox beat the Cardinals 6-1 in Game Six to wrap up the World Series. “Big Papi” David Ortiz takes home the MVP award.

3. Dwight Howard grabs 26 rebounds and scores 17 points in his Houston Rocket debut in a 96-83 win over Charlotte.

4. Allen Iverson officially retires from basketball.

5. Former San Marino running back Kwame Do ran for 258 yards and four touchdowns Saturday for Occidental in a 44-34 win over Cal Lutheran. Do, who has rushed for 876 yards so far this year, is on track to break the all-time Occidental single season record for yards rushing set by Gene Moore in 1968 with 1,084.

6. The Bassett Olympians, who have won five straight, host Duarte Friday night.

7. Klay Thompson scores a career high 38 points to lead Golden State to a 125-94 rout of the Lakers.

8. Crescenta Valley junior receivers Chase Walker (35-583 yards, 4TD) and Jordan Lobianco (33-473 yards, 5 TD.)

9. Oak Park senior running back Brandon Coppel: 157-1167 yards, 9 TD.

10. “In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy’s defensive line.

In baseball, the object is to go home! And to be safe! – I hope I’ll be safe at home!” – George Carlin.
