(Temple City) – Justin Smith’s gapper to right center field in the bottom of the eleventh inning scored Ryan Nunez to give Temple City a 5-4 win over South Pasadena Friday in Rio Hondo league action.
Temple City jumped out to a 4-0 lead courtesy of a three run shot by Branden Pultz in the first inning. South Pasadena pecked away before finally tying it in the sixth.
Both teams had numerous chances to win it but couldn’t come up with the key hit. Jordan Halladay came on in relief to work his way out of a bases loaded jam in the tenth. Temple City left the bases full twice in the last four innings.
“We didn’t need an 11 inning game today. We have four games next week,” said Ram Coach Barry Bacon. “We’ve had a little trouble letting teams stay in it. But we got the W. That’s the big thing.”
Temple City improved to 2-1 in the Rio and 8-1 overall. South Pas is 1-2 and 4-4.
