All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:
Thursday October 13
Glendora (2-5) at Colony (2-5)
Good matchup to kick off the Citrus 4 League. The winner of this one clearly has the inside track to win the league. Colony is coming off a close win over Diamond Ranch while Glendora, which has had its struggles this year, got beat up by Ayala. Should come down to the wire. Colony survives.
Colony 20 Glendora 17
Friday October 14
Bell Gardens (4-3) at Montebello (5-2)
Key game in the Almont. Bell Gardens coming off a big win over Schurr, can maintain league control with a win over the Oilers. Montebello, also 2-0 in the Almont, would move into first by upending the Lancers. Bell Gardens still has momentum on its side. it carries into this week.
Bell Gardens 31 Montebello 27
Downey (6-1) at Warren (5-1)
The best rivalry in the area, bar none. if you’ve never been to this game put it on your bucket list. This year it could be one of the best ever with two D1 quarterbacks squaring off. Downey’s Aidan Chiles and Warren’s Nico Iamaleava are both worth the price of admission. Should be a shootout with these two throwing it all over the field. The Vikings will keep coming all night but the Bears will be the last team standing.
Warren 38 Dowey 31
Diamond Bar (6-1) at Walnut (5-2)
The “Branding Iron” will be even bigger this year. Both teams are having nice seasons and the winner here has a leg up in the Hacienda League. Both teams are coming off of big wins. The Brahmas belted Rowland while the Mustangs routed Wilson. Diamond Bar has some weapons on offense. The Brahmas should have enough to hold off Walnut.
Diamond Bar 27 Walnut 17
Chaminade (7-0) at Bishop Amat (5-2)
Bishop Amat needs a win over Chaminade to win the Misson League title. A Chaminade win would catapult the Eagles to a 3-0 record in the Mission and the team to beat. Both teams can score and it will come down to who can make a stop. Chaminade jumps out early but Amat rallies and pulls it out in the fourth quarter.
Bishop Amat 34 Chaminade 30
Charter Oak (7-0) at Ayala (6-1)
Biggest test for Charter Oak so far this year. The Chargers have passed every test so far but Ayala is a different animal. These are two evenly matched teams. Ayala beat Chino Hills by one point and so did Charter Oak. Ayala beat Glendora last week by 23 while the Chargers beat the Tartans last month by 30. Offensively Charter Oak is fine. If they can stop the run, which has been an issue at times, they can get the W. The best way to call this one may be a coin flip. Chargers prevail.
Charter Oak 28 Ayala 27
Sierra Vista (5-2) at Baldwin Park (5-2)
The Battle of Baldwin Park. Great rivalry that has heated up over the past few years. The Dons are coming off a big win over Glendale while the Braves had a bye last week but got run over by West Covina two weeks. ago. Sierra Vista will try to slow the game down and pound Baldwin Park. The Braves have shown at times that they can air it out or pound it in a balanced attack. Sierra Vista will keep it close for awhile but in the end BP has too much. Braves win city bragging rights.
Baldwin Park 27 Sierra Vista 20
Northview (5-2) at Los Altos (2-5)
Northview gets off to a good start in the Valle Vista. The Vikings will break out early and just keep rolling. Should be a running clock in the fourth quarter. Some games you can see maybe the underdog jumping up and biting somebody. Not here. The only one doing the biting will be the Vikes.
Northview 42 Los Altos 13
Didn’t see Gabby’s big surprise for Panthers coming , but big picture become clearer for the Mead .
What happened?
Coach thought EM was gonna be his last stop or at least there a lot longer. Nothing to do with talent leaving because those kids that play at BP, Arroyo and SV would have been there at EM and they’re all doing their things at those places would of stood for Cineceros.
The bottom is so bad , schedule is more important . They haven’t beaten a team with better then -30 power rating
Good job but beating Glendale , Gladstone , Mountain View nothing to boast about . Decent coach should beat those teams
@ My opinion
The freshman coach posts under a different name than FridayKnights. He always has “Hoops” in his post. The “homeless looking dude”doesn’t own a computer.
Agreed! Cisneros would have been much more respected had he stayed the course at EM. He ran when it got hard. He’s not Bud Kilmer. The school isn’t going to bend over backwards to meet his needs.
I wish he would have gone to a big time school. He won it with the little guys. I wanted to see if he could do it with the big boys.
Pioneer winners of two straight including a unpublicised win over Montclair is going for a playoff spot tonite against Glenn. It’s going to be a rager.
Sure is a must win, if the ER that showed up at Mayfair comes to play they should cruise, not sure which team we will get though.
Who is who’s mom Mrs. Spatt?
I feel like FridayKnights identity is the their freshman football coach with the hair that looks like a wig
Or you’re the alumni guy whose going bald but keeps the back of his hair long and wears your 1980’s letterman jacket
Homeless looking dude
@? Obviously, you are a Ciniceros cheerleader or family member. Why would you say anything when everyone knows Ciniceros went to an already decent team, then brought players with him. Why even post what you posted all the other coached have started from scratch. embarrassing how cheerleaders like you pump your chests when everyone else sees the truth. Not say Hes a bad coach but don’t knock others because they are starting from scratch. i would of had way more respect if he would of stayed at El Monte and made something despite all the talent that left, and please don’t give us the excuse about the district not supporting him. He knew he had nothing to build on at El Monte. in fact give Spatt and crew credit for taking that job knowing the circumstance regarding talent.
El Rancho is in a must win vs Whittier. Setup a showdown with Cal in week 10 for 2nd.
Also had the worst team
Ok MVS it’s time to hire someone to do predictions for the entire SGV! You want hits, this is it!
Maggiori is doing what he always does, schedule tough preseason which should pay off with back to back league titles since hes come back. And with the new playoff format they might be in a division to make a run.
Ziola had the biggest rebuild situation, especially with the schedule and league. I dont think anyone pegged them to win much this year.
Spathius has a case for toughest situation just with the constant coaching changes, its hard to be the 3rd coach in 3 years and they lost their best athlete to Sierra Vista. But if they end with a nice run for 2nd place in league that will be a huge success.
Cinseros had the best situation with the schedule, stud RB, soft schedule. Theyve beat the teams they should have, lost to the ones expected. Litmus test coming the next 2 weeks if they can beat a quality team and show they have a chance for a playoff run.
He had best schedule
But yeah it’s not that easy
If Maggiori, Ziola, Spathius thought they were going to come back and run the table they found out football has run past them. Only Ciniceros looking good for comeback coaches.
What’s there to say or get excited about woeful MVL…..just wait til Arroyo plays Rosemead in “championship game” and wins by traditional 5-7 touchdowns .
BG rolls MHS…not even close! Sorry, ish.
Kiss Deeeez!
Glendora 28-7
Montebello 34-31
Warren 42-20
Diamond Bar 28-16
Bishop Amat 27-24
Ayala 45-27
Baldwin Park 28-14
Northview Back ups in by 3rd quarter.
