(Burbank) – Hector Valencia has been named the new head football coach at Burbank, a school where he was previously the head coach for five years.
Valencia, who was the head coach at Burbank from 2009 to 2013 before stepping down, compiled an overall record of 37-26 in his five-year stint and was 3-4 in the playoffs. The Bulldogs best year under Valencia was his last year in 2013 when they went 10-3 overall and advanced to the Southeast Division Semi-Finals where they lost to La Serna 28-21.
Valencia now returns to Burbank to take over for Adam Colman who stepped down after seven years at the helm. Burbank went 3-7 last season and missed the playoffs.
The staff Valencia had during those years are all goneā¦. The current staff he will inherit has shown nothing at all.
I well remember the toughness of Burbank in that LS semifinal. If not for the daring naked bootlegs of Frankie Palmer, the Bulldogs would have been in the finals against Norwalk. Valencia knows how to build a solid program from the ground up, but he really can’t lose, because the Bank is FDIC insured.
