  1. Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin announced Sunday that he is leaving to become the head football coach at LSU. Kiffin will not finish the season with Ole Miss. His contract at LSU is for seven years at approximately $12 million per year.
  2. Ole Miss announced that Pete Golden, the former defensive coordinator, has been hired as the new head football coach.
  3. Florida hired Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall as its head football coach. Sumrall signed a six-year deal at nearly $7.5 million per year.
  4. Michigan State fired head football coach Jonathan Smith after two seasons. Smith was 9-15 in his two years at Michigan State.
  5. The Rams lost to the Carolina Panthers 31-28 Sunday to fall to 9-3.
  6. Kentucky is expected to fire head football coach Mark Stoops on Monday after 13 years. The Wildcats finished the season at 5-7.
  7. Texas beat previously unbeaten Texas A&M 27-17 Friday.
  8. AP College Football Top 5: 1. Ohio State (12-0) 2. Indiana (12-0) 3. Georgia (11-1) 4. Oregon (11-1) 5. Texas Tech (11-1). USC (9-3) is 17th.
