The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1—Philadelphia Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sánchez has pitched 44.2 innings without allowing a run. In last night’s 3-0 victory over the San Diego Padres, Sánchez broke the franchise record of 41 consecutive shutout innings set in 1911 by Grover Cleveland Alexander.

2—Dodgers beat the Rockies, 4-1, last night. Shohei Ohtani went yard in the first and then pitched six hitless innings while fanning seven. Proving he’s human, Ohtani walked four.

3—“Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been arrested for allegedly strangling and suffocating a woman. Which sounds bad. But it could be worse per sports media — he could have introduced President Trump at a rally.”—Clay Travis

4—Luka Doncic’s 2026-2027 salary: $49,500,000

5—“Every major sports team made the finals not bad for a school with declining enrollment, no matter what division they’re in. I wonder if anyone in the SGV has done that.”—MVS commenter “The Watcher” on South El Monte baseball advancing to the CIF Division 7 Finals.

6—The Top Three Returning QBs in the SGV (According to Grok)
La Habra’s D.J. Mitchell
Monrovia’s Jesse Saucedo
La Serna’s Grady Long

7—Oklahoma City goes to San Antonio tonight for Game Six of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals. The Thunder lead the series 3-2.

8—Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes & Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones both expect to play Week One this coming season.

9—On this date in 2014: “Donald Trump reiterates that he plans to bid on the Bills.” – Pro Football Talk via Twitter.

10—“To be candid with you free agency hurts all sports. It’s great for athletes making an enormous amount of money. But to say it helps sports, I don’t believe that.” – Jerry West.

Didn’t the Monrovia kid transfer out?
From T. Peterson: He came back to Monrovia. It didn’t work out at St. Paul. But that being said Grok still missed it. Any list without Baldwin Park’s Lequand Jackson or Charter Oak’s Dutch Burbidge isn’t legit. Also Mitchell is good but is La Habra technically in the SGV?

    1. Phillies beat the San Diego Padres 3-0 last night not the SF Giants. Which is better because the Dodgers gained another game on the Padres in the NL West standings.
    From T.Peterson: Corrected. Thanks.

    1) Sánchez threw gem vs hated Padres , more hated than Giants these days

    10) And basketball is the most damaged . Players are in select club ; they are all big winners and the game outcome is far from paramount. Witness the behavior of Ant Edwards with 9 minutes left in. Lose out vs Spurs ….or Cavs seemingly already boarded to Cancun in games 3 and 4 .
It’s a step and a half away from professional wrestling and trending in wrong direction

Now if we could just get SEM tennis and golf into the finals of the lower divisions, we’d have the sports Mecca of all time.
