  2. The NBA’s Kawhi Leoanrd/ Clippers investigation into alleged salary cap circumvention is ongoing.
  3. Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, who turned himself in June 24 in connection with a February 2026 kidnapping and robbery, is out on a $1 million bond and continues to work out with NFL teams.
  4. X-rays were negative on the left hand of Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero after he took a 97 mph sinker from Riley O’Brien of the St. Louis Cardinals in the MLB All-Star game Tuesday night. Caminero should be ready to play Friday against Boston.
  5. At the All-Star break the Dodgers, at 61-36, have the best record in baseball. The Angels (38-59) are tied with the Kansas City Royals for the worst record in baseball.
  6. On this day in 1941 Joe Dimaggio of the New York Yankees went three for three in a 10-3 win over the Cleveland Indians to extend his hitting streak to 56 consecutive games, the longest in MLB history. The streak ended the next day as DiMaggio went 0 for 3 in a 4-3 win over Cleveland. The streak still stands today.
  7. Former NFL/College football coach and Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson turns 83 today.
  8. New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara will stay with the Saints on a reworked contract his agent confirmed Wednesday. The Saints signed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. to a four-year deal worth more than $12 million per year in March.
  9. “Is Messi playing?” – Piers Morgan on Twitter (X) Wednesday. Lionel Messi assisted on both goals for Argentina in a 2-1 win over England in the Semi-Finals Wednesday.
  10. With the two assists Wednesday Messi has eight goals and four assists in the 2026 World Cup and is the leader in the race for the Golden Boot.
