2— On September 1, 2017…El Monte running back Abel Cueva ran for 393 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns in the Lions, 52-41, win over Southlands Christian.

3— “Doesn’t anyone wear their school colors anymore? Always dressed in black.”—MVS commenter, “NWO”

4—Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was given a driving ban after an OWI arrest and said he would “own my mistakes.”

6—On This Date in 1972: Milt Pappas of the Cubs threw a no-hitter against the Padres (8-0), losing a perfect game on a two-out walk in the ninth.

7—“You sports writers don’t even do any homework on some of these teams, and you already writing some off. what are you going to write if BP beats Chino? that it was an upset? you have no clue on what kind of team BP has do you?”—MVS commenter “just another dad!” (This is from 2016: Chino beat Baldwin Park, 50-23 that night.)
