Vikings Can’t Overcome Miscues, Fall 12-4

By Tim Peterson (El Monte) – Mountain View retired the first two batters of the game. But an error on a ground ball to third by the next batter opened the door for three unearned runs in the first inning and Western Christian went on to beat the Vikings 12-4 Saturday at Mountain View High.

Alhambra Scores Moor, 72-59

By Tim Peterson Glendora and West Covina have not hired head coaches as of yet which is probably a good thing. Both are solid programs and when you’re trying to replace a successful coach like Brandon Roher at Glendora or a legend like Mike Maggiore at West Covina you have to get it right.

Cougars Complete Sweep of Vanguard

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Casey Spencer threw six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits as Azusa Pacific shut out Vanguard 7-0 Saturday to sweep a doubleheader. With the win the Cougars also completed a four-game sweep of Vanguard at the Cougar Baseball Complex.

Arroyo Brings Home the Title

Gabrielino Girls Win First Ever CIF Basketball Championship

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Kimiko Nagata scored 15 points and Ava Yamashita added 11 to lead Gabrielino to a 38-23 win over Rosemead to win the CIF Division 5A Girls Basketball championship Friday at Felix Event Center.

Cougars Come Up Short in the End

By Tim Peterson (Azusa) – Azusa Pacific, 12-14 overall coming into the game, stayed with Biola (21-6) coming in, through the first 36 minutes but fell short in the last four in a 77-72 loss to the Eagles Thursday night at Felix Event Center.
