Schurr Secures Almont League Title, 39-0

By Rich Whittington (San Gabriel ) – The Schurr Spartans completed their quest for an undefeated Almont League Title Friday evening, as the Spartans defeated the host San Gabriel Matadors, 39-0, in front of a “Senior Night” assembly, consisting of parents, students, and alumni.

Loyola Wins “Kick-Off” Battle, 6-3

By Rich Whittington (La Canada) – The Loyola Cubs edged the host St. Francis Golden Knights Friday evening, 6-3, in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd at Jim Bonds Stadium, on the campus of St. Francis High School.

San Gabriel Scores 28-17 Win Over Alhambra

By Ron Vrooman (San Gabriel) – Tailback Robert Lucero carried the ball 30 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns to lead the San Gabriel Matadors to a 28-17 victory over the visiting Alhambra Moors on Friday night.

Rosemead Blanks El Monte 37-0

By Rich Whittington (Rosemead) – The Rosemead Panthers took a big step toward the CIF Playoffs Thursday evening, as the host Panthers blasted the visiting El Monte Lions, 37-0, in front of a small, yet vocal, assembly at Rod Marinelli Stadium.
