The TEN
(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)
1.)—On this date in 1973: John Hadl threw four first half touchdown passes to Harold Jackson in the Los Angeles Rams, 37-31, victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys were driving for a late score but LA safety Al Clark intercepted Roger Staubach to secure the win.
2.)— ALCS tied 1-1: Tampa Bay Rays beat Cleveland Guardians 3-1 behind strong pitching from Freddy Peralta. Jose Ramirez’s miscues hurt Cleveland.
3.)—Shohei Ohtani stays in the Dodgers’ lineup for NLCS Game 3 (tonight vs. Milwaukee, 8 p.m. ET on FS1). Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani was “adamant” he can help despite knee/biceps issues and a deep slump (3-for-20 this postseason, no homers since mid-August). Brewers lead the series 2-0.
4.)—The Dallas Cowboys have hired Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant/senior adviser to the defensive staff to aid DC Christian Parker. Pettine was the Cleveland Browns head coach in 2014 & 2015 and compiled a 10-22 record.
5.)—Rams OT Alaric Jackson suspended two games without pay for punching Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb after Monday night’s game. Bills won 37-34 in OT (Josh Allen’s first career OT victory). Jackson is expected to appeal; David Quessenberry projected to start in his place.
6.)—Former NFL star Mark Sanchez reaches a settlement over a stabbing altercation.

9.)—On this day in 2003 fan Steve Bartman deflects a ball away from Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou who is attempting to catch the foul ball. The Cubs give up eight runs in the inning and lose the playoff game to the Marlins 8-3. The Cubs go on to lose the series with Bartman’s gaffe seen as the turning point.
10.)—Baltimore Oriole legend and pitcher Jim Palmer turns 81 today
I get that Ohtani is a superstar. But at what point does Dave say to him that in order for the team to be better, he needs to sit. An auto out at this point. DePaula has a great eye for the strike zone and usually doesn’t swing at pitches way off the plate or at eye level.
1) Hadl to Jackson was a thing , explosive combo for a couple years , great offensive teams
