Super Bowl XLVI The catch made by Mario Mannigham on the Giants game wining drive wasn’t as good as David Tyree’s four years ago. But it was a great play and a perfect throw by Eli Manning.

The transition from high school football to basketball is difficult to make. The season starts in early December and who’s thinking about it then? The playoffs are in full swing and everybody still has football on their minds.

It started as soon as the season ended in mid November. Glendale Coach Al Eberhart stepped down and was eventually replaced by long time area assistant John Tuttle.

Notes and observations from Christmas Weekend 2011: It feels strange to have a Sunday in December with just one NFL Game. With Christmas falling on a Sunday all of the games were moved to Saturday the 24th leaving Green Bay and Chicago with the spotlight all to themselves on Sunday night.

High School football season ended last weekend with the crowning of Monrovia and West Covina as CIF Champions for the second straight year. All that’s left for them is the celebrations and parades.

It’s been a memorable week in sports – especially here in Southern California. And no I’m not talking about the Dodgers signing of Aaron Harang. There was the CIF Finals in the Mid-Valley and Southeast Divisions, big news out of Anaheim, and Los Angeles and there is a new chief in Westwood.
