1. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on Thursday Night Football. It was the first win of the season for the Buccaneers as they improved to 1-4 while the Cowboys fell to 2-3.
2. The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 Thursday night to even the AL Division Series at 2-2.
3. USC at Penn State, Saturday 4:30 PM, NBC.
4. Texas is favored by 7.5 points over Oklahoma Saturday in the Red River Shootout. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 PM on ABC.
5. Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers, Game 1 – NLCS, Sunday on FOX. Time is TBD.
6. Alex Cora has once again declined the opportunity to manage the Philadelphia Phillies as he informed the team he plans to take 2027 off. Cora also declined the job in April when Rob Thomson was fired. The Phillies have not decided on the status of current manager Don Mattingly.
7. UCLA at Oregon, Saturday 12:30 PM, CBS.
8. Oregon Men’s head basketball coach Dana Altman has retired after 16 seasons with the Ducks. Altman is the winningest coach in Oregon history and has coached for nearly 40 years at the Division 1 level. Altman also coached at Marshall, Kansas St. and Creighton and retires with an overall record of 792-425 in his 37 seasons as a Division 1 head coach, which is the 15th most wins in NCAA history.
9. “October football is so important because if you don’t play well in October, you won’t be playing in November” – South Hills head coach Jacob Calderon on “Spaces” Wednesday night.
10. MLB has proposed shortening the regular season to 154 games and expanding the division series to a best-of- seven format beginning in 2029.
