High School Top 16 Mid-Valley Division: Playoff Edition

Kevin Kolbeck and San Dimas travel to Arroyo in CIF first round

Our top 16 isn’t necessarily the same as the CIF top 16. They like Azusa as the top seed, we like Monrovia. They like Arroyo at number three while we have Azusa there with Whittier Christian at two. Hey, we both agreed on Covina at number four.

1. Monrovia (8-2) – Cats are the best until somebody knocks them off.

2. Whittier Christian (9-1) – Undefeated in the Olympic is pretty impressive.

3. Azusa (10-0) – Beat everybody and did it handily.

4. Covina (9-1) – Huge wins over West Covina, San Dimas Baldwin Park.

5. Arroyo (9-1) – Congratulations on the MVL title. Here’s your reward- San Dimas.

6. Baldwin Park (5-5) – Braves proved themselves in league; tough matchup at Schurr.

7. San Dimas (6-4) – When Saints offense is marching, they’re hard to beat.

8. Maranatha (7-3) – We’re not envying La Puente right about now.

9. Schurr (6-4) – Spartans struggled at times in league; need to step up in playoffs.

10. Bell Gardens (7-3) – BG making travel plans for Whittier College. Ouch!

11. Rosemead (7-3) – Nice local first round match up with Temple City.

12. Village Christian (6-4) – Dangerous first round opponent for Azusa.

13. La Puente (8-2) – Solid season but now we’ll find out how good Warriors are.

14. Temple City (4-6) – Rams count their blessings; only team below .500 in playoffs.

15. La Canada (5-5) – Tall mountain to scale at Covina.

16. Gladstone (5-5) – Gladiators need a perfect game and divine intervention at M-Town.
