(Baldwin Park) – Arroyo lost just two two games all day and finished second Saturday at the Baldwin Park Tournament. Both losses were to Tournament Champion Summit- by five points in pool play and 4 points in the championship game.
“Awesome job at the Baldwin Park Tournament! Battled the heat, 7 games, our opponents and kids having to leave early for prior academic obligations back on campus and we never stopped competing! Took great strides towards coming together as a family. Lost to Summit by 5 in pool play with the ball on their 3 yard line when time expired. Then faced them again in the finals. Thought we won it in regulation…but an officials call didn’t go our way (it happens). So they got one play with no time remaining. Well they scored on the last play on a ball that got deflected twice and literally landed in the lap of a WR that had already been laid out and was on the ground! Hahaha… strangest play I have seen in one of these things. The trophy for Baldwin Park Tournament Finalist is cool, but our kids earning respect was so much sweeter. You should have heard the comments from Summit when they found out we would play them again in the finals. Comments ranged from shock that we made it; To respect; to that they knew after our first game that this would be the finals match-up. Having teams walking out and seeing Arroyo still playing in the stadium after 8+ hours of football… priceless. Great day. Great job Knights!” – Arroyo HC Jim Singiser.
