(El Monte) – La Puente and Azusa joined Arroyo out behind B.L. Bergstrom Stadium Thursday to throw the ball around. The quarterbacks are set at Arroyo and Azusa with returning seniors Nathan Coto and Jose Ledesma respectively while La Puente is looking to replace three year starter Ivan Vasquez. Right now senior Jacob Tovar is the front runner.
“We haven’t been out throwing too much. This is really our first time out after the dead period,” said first year La Puente HC Scott Morrison. “We really don’t know for sure but right now Jacob is the guy. He’s a senior so we’ll see. We’re all still getting to know these guys.”
Arroyo is coming off of a year in which they finished 3-2 in the MVL and 7-5 overall but advanced to the second round of the playoffs after knocking off Bell Gardens. La Puente went 8-3 last year and fell to El Segundo in the first round of CIF while Azusa went 5-5 and missed the post season.
