1. Former St. Francis star and UCLA safety Dietrich Riley will no longer be able to play football due to lingering neck and shoulder injuries.

2. Minneosta Twins catcher Joe Mauer left the team and returned home Tuesday as his wife went into labor to deliver…yes, twins.

3. The New Jersey Devils sign 41 year old Jaromir Jagr to a one-year, $2 million contract to compensate for some of the scoring lost with the sudden retirement of Ilya Kovalchuk.

4. Mark Ellis and Yasiel Puig both hit home runs to highlight a five run tenth inning to spark the Dodgers to an 8-3 win over Toronto. The Dodgers have won ten straight road games which is the most ever since they’ve been in Los Angeles.

5. Joe Blanton (2-13, 5.66 ERA) leads the major league in losses, hits allowed, runs and home runs.

6. “Steve Grogan played when football was a man’s sport and players played for the game. No longer is that true for the majority of the players. Glad I could witness that era of football.” – Cal fan on a comment on yesterday’s edition of “The Ten”.
