1.) “I just wanted to step up tonight, it feels great to win.”—San Dimas defensive end Justin Winrow after contributing a safety/sack and recovering an onside kick in the Saints 12-7 victory over Monrovia in the Mid-Valley Division title tilt played on this day in 2009 in a driving rain storm at Citrus College.

2.) Thirty years ago today the Detroit Pistons defeated the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in triple overtime in Denver. The leading scorers were: Isaiah Thomas (47 points) and John Long (41) for the Pistons. Denver was led by Kiki Vandeweghe (51) and Alex English (47).

3.) On Wednesday Bonita defeated Arroyo 51-7. In girls basketball.

4.) “Colon: Further proof that steroids is worth the risk.”—MVS commentor “Bobby Knight” on starting pitcher Bartolo Colon’s recent 2/year 20-million deal with the New York Mets.

5.) “I found my best receiver and my best friend.”—La Serna quarterback Frankie Palmer on his title winning touchdown throw to Matt Rosales. La Serna defeated Norwalk, 41-38.

6.) “I’m coming back if they want me.”—Oakland Raiders safety Charles Woodson on 2014.
