Eli Peters led the way for Gabrielino with 19
(San Gabriel) – Gabrielino blitzed Mt. View with a 20-2 first quarter and never looked back in a 68-38 rout of the Vikings Wednesday night in Mission Valley League action.
Eli Peters led the Eagles with 19 points but had plenty of help from his teammates as Grant Kirchoff had 16 Bryan Phan tossed in 15. Gabrielino outscored Mt. View in every quarter after jumping out to the big lead.
***Isaih Mendoza had 19 for Mt. View but no other Viking was in double figures. The Vikes had only five players in the scoring column.
***Mt. View was down 38-15 at halftime and had only six field goals in the first half, three by Mendoza.
***Gabrielino’s point total decreased by two each quarter as they went 20-18-16-14.
***Despite the 68 point outburst by the Eagles they only converted one three point shot- Phan hit one from beyond the arc in the the first quarter.
***After Mendoza’s 19, the Vikings next leading scorers were Kevin Ho and Nathan Touche who each scored six.
***Gary Hawkins was also in double figures for Gabrielino with 11.
***Neither team made a living at the free throw line as the Eagles were 7 for 14 and the Vikings 3 for 4.
***Gabrielino has beaten their three league opponents by 53, 43 and 30 points.
***The Eagles improved to 15-3 overall and 3-0 in the MVL.
***Mt. View dropped to 2-12 and 0-3 in league.
