Colts Stampede Through La Puente

(La Puente) -The Covina Colts played faster and more efficient on the way to an easy 41-24 victory over the host La Puente Warriors Friday night on McIntosh Field.
Early in the first quarter it was Covina’s Zack Moreo catching a 52-yard bomb with 8:07 in the first jumping out to a 14-0 lead.

Eric “Pooh” Williams showed off his sprint speed on a pair of 45-yard touchdown receptions to press the Colts advantage to 34-10 lead in the second quarter.

Pearnell Smalley also added two touchdowns on the ground for Covina and was the ground and pound force all night long.

La Puente quarterback Erick Morales accounted for all 3 of the Warriors touchdowns through the air, including a late 75-yard bomb to tight end Mathew Lares with 3 minutes to play. Jordan Fisher and Jovanni Gonzales caught Morales’ other two scoring passes.

Both teams are now 1-1
